To us, food is medicine, and a whole-food, plant based diet is ideal for those wanting to heal their bodies.
Most disease processes are inflammation driven, or have an element of inflammation to them. Fruits, veggies and plant based foods are all rich in Omega 3’s which reduce inflammation in the body, whereas processed foods, sugars, meat, dairy and a few grains are all high in omega 6, causing unnecessary inflammation in the body.
Although animal products offer some nutrients to the body, we don’t need the excess protein and saturated fat that come with them. Whole plant-based foods are where we get all of the minerals, vitamins, phytonutrients, fibre, and fat that our bodies need.
Changing to a plant-based diet can have multiple benefits such as lifting your energy levels, aiding natural weight loss and reducing your body mass index (BMI) to ensure you age in a healthy way, improving your heart health and blood pressure, and in some cases reversing Type 2 diabetes and many other health issues.
Making the change can be a daunting process. We recommend starting small and changing slowly. You can start by cutting out meat, then eliminating eggs and dairy – it’s important to do what works for you, at a pace that feels right.
