Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
IBS is a common problem suffered by at least 1 in 10 people worldwide. It is the term given to undiagnosed troublesome gut issues. It varies in symptoms from person to person, with most people reporting some degree of bloating, pain, cramping, excessive gas, irregular bowel habits, constipation and/or diarrhoea.
IBS and for that matter, all irritable bowel diseases, are linked to many chronic illnesses such as anxiety, autoimmune diseases, Alzheimer’s, obesity and arthritis. As Hippocrates was quoted as saying, “All disease begins in the gut”.
